Alta 3532

(9 customer reviews)

Price range: $3,100.00 through $4,350.00

Princeton CarbonWorks Alta 3532; the shallowest and lightest wheel offered by PCW, designed to conquer the steepest of climbs.

A natural evolution forward, Alta 3532 has a variety of unique features that make it a stiff, responsive, and durable ultra-lightweight wheelset.

21mm internal hooked tubeless ready clincher profile accommodates wider modern tires.

PCWs trademark non-drilled tire bed makes tubeless setup fast and easy.

A shaped and optimized valve exit makes tightening valves more straightforward and easier on the fingers.

When it comes to new technologies, Alta 3532 is the first wheelset in the PCW stable to utilize our new EVOLUTION rim design and layup. Rim depth varies between 35 and 32 millimeters, with a rim weight of 348 grams (hooked, clincher, tubeless ready). Wheels offer improved spoke tension balance and ultimately better overall performance by utilizing the rim shape to balance spoke angle: steep spokes (drive side on the rear wheel and disc side on the front wheel) are attached to the deeper section of the rim, bringing them in more symmetry with the opposing sides’ spokes.
For the first time ever, a variable and asymmetric cross section is used to aid in spoke engagement and create a more direct spoke to rim interface; the nipple bed articulates from drive side to non-drive side with each spoke to better match the spoke entry angle to the rim.
EVOLUTION is an inherently lighter overall design methodology by removing material on the inner of the edge of the rim, optimizing spoke bracing angles and tensions, and ultimately creating a more efficient final product.

Available in disc brake and rim brake. (For rim brake please email info@princetoncarbon.com)
21mm internal tubeless ready clincher.

As somebody who has owned 15+ high end wheelsets, the Altas are a class above. Sure they are lightweight, but I’m 6’2 230 lbs and they are equal parts extremely stable and robust. With the tactic TR01s (bonus exceptional free hub sound!), these things are incredibly snappy. Main highlights for me vs my prior favorite wheelset the Scope 4A: climbing acceleration is superb- it’s as close to 1:1 power transfer as you can get and there’s minimal jumpiness (ie you can smoothly apply power even when out of the saddle and maintain a fluid climbing motion), cornering on descents is notably better (less fighting the turn, easier to overcome rolling inertia), rigidity (previous light weight wheels have been too flexy, especially under power). Even against the 8k Lightweight wheels I’ve owned, these things Altas shine. Honestly I bought them only as a climbing wheelset but they may just become my all rounders.

A year into my Alta wheel set. Using as special occasion climbing wheel set. Noticeable difference over Dura Ace C-36 wheel set on Pinarello Dogma (Dura Ace 12 sp) Sometimes “resting” or doing active recovery on climbs when others are getting gassed out. Tactic TR01 hubs smooth and without issues. Very pleased with tracking and control on descents. VERY light yet very responsive. 5 stars.

  3. Michael De Troyer

    Best allround wheelset
Very very Light, stiff, fast, accurate, stable and comfortable
a climbing wheelset that feels like an aero racing wheelset

Had my ALTAs for about 2 months now and put in about 1000 miles on them. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about them. They are super light, stiff, and excellent in really windy conditions. Highly recommend for anyone interested in arguably the best climbing wheel I have ever ridden.

  5. JC Chamberlain

These are the fastest, lightest wheels I’ve ever owned. I outclimb my peers after years of just keeping up. Hats off to the Princeton Carbon team. I live in an area with a lot of crosswinds. These wheels perform with little resistance and fast recovery cornering and closing gaps. Alta is THE top pedigree wheelset!

Awesome wheel set!! My third PCW wheel set. I have Wake 6560s on two other bikes. PCW has done an amazing job with the Alta 3532s. Did the Asheville (NC) Gran Fondo and they were perfect for the climbing and super reactive on the long and fast descents. Highly recommend the Alta 3532 for those serious about climbing.

  7. Beorn

These wheels are stunning. I have a pair with Carbon-Ti hubs and I think Princeton did an amazing job by developing a set that is really stiff while keeping the weight very low, making it perfect for climbing. But even more that this, it is the handling on descents and fast corners that is just incredible: they give you absolute confidence and precision at low and fast speed, maintaining the speed and the stability of the bike. I recommend them without hesitation to anyone who is keen on a set of modern low-profile high-performance wheels.

  8. Marco

I wanted to test the wheels calmly and now with about 500 km I want to congratulate with Princeton, the wheels are superb !
They are reactive, but at the same time stable. During the downhill they give a lot of confidence and do not suffer from the wind.
Perfect product not only for PRO´s nut for enthusiast cyclists too.
